12 Book Recommendations From 12 Friends
One challenge that is very popular on bookstagram is the “12 book recommendations from 12 friends” challenge. I think the idea is to read one of those 12 for each month of the year. I wanted to do it this year, but I did it a little differently. Since you know that one of my goals is to reduce my physical TBR, I had my friends choose books from my physical TBR!
I made this graphic to keep track of the 12 books, and so I can easily post it in my stories on bookstagram. This also lists all of my friends who chose the books! If you’re on bookstagram you should absolutely follow them all.
The theme this year seems to be my friends yelling at me to read sapphic books hahahah. I am very embarrassed to not have read the “Sapphic Trifecta” yet haha. Especially since I got them all right when they each released!! So I’m glad my friends chose them. Now I have no excuse to not get to them hahah. Those three trifecta books are: She Who Became the Sun, The Unbroken, and The Jasmine Throne. A lot of the other books are sapphic as well!! The Priory of the Orange Tree, Into the Drowning Deep, and The Fifth Season are ones that I am pretty sure are sapphic.
And A Prayer for the Crown-Shy, God’s War, and Brotherhood are (I believe) queer! I mean I guess it’s not a surprise by now that most of the books I read are queer haha.
One of these that I’m PARTICULARLY excited for is Bound Feet. This novella is horror, which is out of my usual genre. HOWEVER. One of my best bookstagram friends is the author!! I highly recommend you check out her work, which you can see on her website.
Have you read any of these? I’d love to hear your thoughts on them!!
This is a great list – I hope you enjoy them all!! 🥰
Thank youuuuu hehe
I love this list. Babel and The Priory of the Orange Tree are both brilliant. I’ve got The Jasmine Throne at the top of my TBR .
I’m so stoked for those both, I’ve had them since they released haha
The size is a bit off-putting as they are both really long
hahah yeah they really are!!
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the ones I haven’t read! Which is most of them because that is usually how I roll during posts like this 😂
Anyway. So. You have your 12 books. What order will you read them in. 👀 Put all the titles in a jar and pick one out each month? Get people to vote? Something else? 👀
hahahaha I mean, obviously I’m not doing great since they’re all still on my TBR lol. Since I’m def a mood reader I think the order will be random, and I don’t even know if I’ll manage one a month hahaha. So who knows?? Not me
I look forward to finding out, then 😁
I’ve read six of them and loved them all! The six are the trifecta, priory, fifth season, and psalm! I really want to read the drowning deep!
I honestly really need to read more Mira Grant, since I love her stuff as Seanan
You have a lot of great books on this list! I really hope you enjoy She Who Became the Sun and Priory of the Orange Tree! Those are some of my faves!
I really think I will!!!
I tried to get bookish friends to respond to this challenge with the goal of focusing on my physical TBR buuut almost everything that was suggested to me I didn’t own. So it was a fail for me, but I’m glad it worked out for you! You’re not alone in not having read the sapphic trifecta. I’ve only read She Who Became the Sun, but I’ve seen all good comments about the other two. Good luck with your challenge!
ahhh see the way I did it was that I have a shelf on Goodreads so I can track my physical TBR, so I sent that link to my friends! But that’s kind of a big undertaking if you don’t already have something like that haha
Ohhh that’s a MUCH better approach than what I did. Yea, I don’t have a shelf like that on Goodreads haha. Not going to start now! 😉
hahaa yeah it’s definitely too much work to start from scratch after being a reader for so long. similarly i want to catalog all the books i own in general, but that is VERY daunting
ohhh that’s an amazing list!! And Priory, my love, my precious, I hope you’ll enjoy it!! It’s one of my all time favourites <3
i think i definitely will love it 🙂
