My Bookish Life From A to Z!
Hello everyone! I found this tag while reading other people’s lovely blogs (specifically, Drizzle & Hurricane Books) and it looked really fun so I decided to give it a go. I’m talking about books I love, authors I love, my reading habits, and etc! I hope you enjoy!
A – Author you’ve read the most books from
Tamora Pierce! I think I’ve read 32, and I’m pretty sure I’ve read every one of her books.
B – Best sequel ever
Golden Son remains one of my favorite sequels! But another favorite of mine is Lirael, the sequel to Sabriel.
C – Currently reading
The Fifth Season! I’m reading this with a couple of my grad student friends 🙂
D – Drink of choice while reading
Probably water? haha. I don’t really buy juice or whatever for myself so I usually just drink water. Sometimes in the winter I’ll have tea though!
E – E-reader or physical copy?
I love my Kindle for travel but if I had to choose between the two, I’d go with physical copies. I love having them for my collection!
F – Fictional character you would have dated in high school
It’s been uhhh like 7 years since I was in high school lol and I feel like I’m kinda different now than I was then so this is a bit difficult. I feel like August from This Savage Song would have been the kinda guy I would be into.
G – Glad you gave this book a chance
I don’t really read nonfiction, but my uncle gave me a copy of Lab Girl for Christmas and I’m really glad I read it! It’s an autobiography of a botanist and her life story is really neat, and written really well.
H – Hidden gem book
Air and Ash by Alex Lidell! It’s about a princess who pretends to be a common sailor and gets a job on a ship, and finds out she has forbidden magic! It was great and I need to get the sequel soon.
I – Important moment in your reading life
Hmmm…I’m not sure if this is important but it’s memorable haha. When I was young, my mom was reading the first few Harry Potter books to me out loud, but pretty soon I told her that she was reading too slow and I took the book and just read it on my own hahaha.
J – Just finished
We Hunt the Flame! I really enjoyed it! Enemies to lovers romance almost always gets me, what can I say haha.
K – Kinds of books you won’t read
Horror or serious erotica lol. I’m too much of a baby for horror, and as for erotica, I’d rather read books with a bit more plot lol.
L – Longest book you’ve ever read
I think it was The Mad Ship by Robin Hobb! It’s 906 pages haha. Her books are long but incredible.
M – Major book hangover because of…
Oh my god, probably The Hero of Ages and Morning Star were my two biggest book hangovers. The Hero of Ages COMPLETELY blew my mind, I was so shook.
N – Number of bookcases you own
Well I have five in my room, and two downstairs in the living room haha.
O – One book you’ve read multiple times
Just one? Lol I reread a lot so I have a lot to choose from. I’ll go with Red Rising by Pierce Brown since I’m actually going to be rereading that one again soon, in preparation for Dark Age!
P – Preferred place to read
In my room, on my bed! I have a bunch of pillows and cozy blankets so it’s perfect.
Q – Quote that inspires you
“Fairy tales are more than true: not because they tell us that dragons exist, but because they tell us that dragons can be beaten.”
Neil Gaiman, Coraline
R – Reading regret
I’m not sure what I regret?? Maybe that I’m not immortal so I’ll never be able to read all the glorious books that are out there 🙁
S – Series you started and need to finish (all books out)
I’m sure there are many lol but one of them is the Eternal Sky trilogy! I’ve read the first two but haven’t read the last book for some reason lol.
T – Three of your all-time favorite books
This is cruel lol. I’ll go with In the Hand of the Goddess, Sabriel, and Golden Son!
U – Unapologetic fangirl for
Tamora Pierce haha. She’s my favorite author ever!!! If you haven’t seen my post about her books then check it out here! 🙂
V – Very excited for this release
Well two days ago I did a post about releases I’m excited about lol so here’s one I didn’t put on that list: Permanent Record by Mary H.K. Choi! I LOVED Emergency Contact, so I’m excited for her next novel.
W – Worst bookish habit
Hmm…maybe that I get really excited about new releases and then buy them right when they release but then tend to wait a long time before I actually read the books haha.
X – X marks the spot: start at the top of your shelf and pick the 27th book
The Hostile Hospital (A Series of Unfortunate Events #8)! I need to reread this series so I can finally watch the tv show.
Y – Your latest book purchase
I think maybe it was Magic for Liars! I had preordered it but that’s the one I received most recently!
Z – Zzz-snatcher book (the last book that kept you up way too late)
I started Geekerella really late at night and should have just left the rest to the next morning but instead I stayed up and just read the whole thing in one sitting haha.
I hope you enjoyed learning a little bit more about me! Have you read any of the things I mentioned? Or do you have any of the same habits I do?
You’ve read 32 Tamora Pierce books? She has that many, or is that including rereads? (Maybe I am misunderstanding this, haha. Sorry if so!).
Everyone seems to RAVE about Golden Son, and of course the Red Rising books in general. I already have a copy of GS, so I’ll give that a go. It’ll be very interesting to see whether I enjoy it more than I did RR. 😛
How are you finding The Fifth Season? I need to read the sequel… I’ve been delaying it for far too long!!
SAME, I always drink water, ahahaha. It’s refreshing AND it’s free. 😉
That’s such a cute HP memory! I don’t think I’d have been able to stand having it read to me, but if audiobooks were my sort of thing back then, I might have liked those because you can choose the speed that’s best for you!
I’m pleased to see that a Hobb book made it into this list. 😉 The Liveship Traders books never seem that long to me, for some reason. I keep thinking of them as being about 700 pages each, haha.
I totally relate to your answer for W *cough, cough*
She has that many!! that is definitely NOT including rereads haha. She has 32 different books out 🙂
And uhh tbh I’ve barely read any of The Fifth Season haha. I haven’t really been in the mood and I don’t want to force it yknow?
Haha yeah they’re kinda deceptively long! Especially since I’ve been reading them on my Kindle so I’m not holding it in my hands and seeing how thick it is.
