It’s Time to Garden! (aka: Time for Pondathon II!)

I joined the first iteration of this readathon last January, and now it’s time for round two! This is a creation of CW and the other members of the blog The Quiet Pond. I love their blog so much, it’s probably one of my favorite little corners of the internet. They champion diverse books, and the space is so welcoming and wholesome. The art that CW creates is beautiful! I love all the characters that she has made that are “permanent residents” of the pond.

What is the Pondathon?

The Pondathon is a low-key story-driven readathon! In the first round, everyone helped to protect the pond from dark forces threatening to destroy it. The aim of the Pondathon II readathon is to read books to earn plants and decorate your own little garden so that we can restore the forest together. More information about the readathon can be found here.

How to Join the Pondathon

You can sign-up to the Pondathon II readathon here. The readathon starts on January 10th 2022 and ends on December 11th 2022. And don’t worry, sign-ups are open across the duration of the readathon. You also get to create your own pond animal character for the Pondathon, and create your own character card!

There are also a handful of really helpful posts: tutorial post, frequently asked questions post, and Pondathon portal (where you can find all of the posts related to this year’s Pondathon).

I recommend joining the Discord server that CW has set up for the Pondathon. It’s a great way to make friends, discover new reads, and just hang out!

Meet My Pondathon Character!

This is definitely one of my favorite parts of the Pondathon – character creation. I spent a lot of time adding all the details to my little Teemo (he’s a mouse!). He loves the stars and planets, but his earthbound hobby is gardening. His favorite flowers are moonflowers and snowdrops!

Books I *Might* Read

Listen, we all know I don’t set TBRs alright? But seeing as how this readathon lasts all year long, I feel like I do have some books that I’d like to get to this year. I mentioned some anticipated releases in this post, so I do want to get to those ones (Seasonal Fears, Nona the Ninth, A Prayer for the Crown-Shy, Babel, and Daughter of the Moon Goddess). I’m also trying to read my owned and unread books, so from those here are a few I’m excited to read:

and on and on…. I really have a lot of books I want to get to haha. Hopefully I’ll get to some (or all) of these, among many others I’m sure.

Will you be joining the Pondathon? I really hope you do! I think it’ll be lots of fun and very cute no matter how many books you read!
