Blogger Appreciation! (March 18th)

It’s time to spread the love!! This post is all about blogger appreciation, and sharing posts from other bloggers that I’ve been loving. I’m going to try to do this more frequently, since there are so many of us bloggers doing cool things!

Understanding Colorism in Fiction from Bookish Brews

Every single post that Amanda writes is a gem. I highly recommend following her on Bookish Brews if you don’t already. This particular post is a conversation with Federico Erebia, who is the author of the upcoming book Pedro & Daniel. In the post the two of them discuss colorism and racism, both in real life and in fiction. It’s a really important conversation, and I learned a lot from reading the post. I hope all of you give it a read.

In Conversation with Freelance Editor Nicole Evans from Of Worlds Forgotten

This post is a conversation between two wonderful people!!! And you get two Nicoles in one post! Nicole from Of Worlds Forgotten is the one who runs the blog where the post appears. I met her through Bookstagram, and she’s a wonderful person. In this post she interviews Nicole Evans, who is a freelance editor and writer! And also an amazing person and friend. They talk about editing, writing, writing influences, advice, and more! It was interesting for me to read, but I think it will be even more valuable for writers.

Top Twelve Auto-Buy Authors from Thoughts Stained With Ink

How could I talk about Nicole Evans in the previous section and not mention one of her posts?? In this post she talks about her top 12 auto-buy authors, and what “auto-buy” means to her. One of her authors is Becky Chambers, who I think would be on my list as well! She also mentions Bec McNaster, who writes steampunk romance. I am very intrigued, and am definitely thinking about picking up one of her books now.

Yellowface by R.F. Kuang book review from Fanna For Books

I think by now, most of the book community has heard of R.F. Kuang. Yellowface is her upcoming adult contemporary novel. It deals with racism, cultural appropriation, plagiarism, and more, both in the publishing industry and society as a whole. Fanna’s review of Yellowface is absolutely incredible. The introduction is so engaging and interesting, and her discussion of plot is so well entwined with the overall themes of the book and her reactions to it. Thank you for sharing this review with us all, Fanna!

ARC Review of Flowerheart from Midsummer Night’s Read

Kait reviewed Flowerheart, which is an upcoming cozy YA cottagecore fantasy novel. I’ve been super excited since it has been marketed as a book for fans of Tamora Pierce! That’s me!! Kait’s review is wonderful and highlights some aspects for growth while still appreciating all the great things about the book. I love Kait’s writing voice, and her reviews are a pleasure to read.

Writing News from The Suspected Bibliophile

One of the best things about the book community is watching all your friends who are also writers write and publish their books!! Laurel is a friend that I made on Bookstagram originally. In this post she reveals the cover for That Slow Awakening, which is the sequel to her sci-fi novel That Distant Dream. I’m so excited for her, and excited to pick up both of these books!

I’d love if you shared a recent post that you loved! It can be one of your own, or one from another blogger! Both are very welcome.
